While Europe receives the modern Transit van, we, Yankees, get the good ol' Econoline. Since, 1960, the Econoline has went through tweaks here and there and three full redesigns. The current Econoline existed since 1992 and sits on the VN platform used since 1975. The 'new' Econoline is just a minor refresh, so there are no major changes.
The current Econoline and the 'new' Econoline will be built in Ford's Avon Lake and Lorain, Ohio plants. The 'new' Econoline will not go through any powertrain changes and will keep the 6.8L V10 petrol engine and the 6.0L Powerstroke diesel engine. The major changes will be the new front-end styling. It is partly visible under the camouflage that it will receive the new F-350 SuperDuty front-end. Interior changes are also expected.
