Porsche 997 reaches 100,000 units faster than any 911 iteration

Porsche made history today when they rolled out the 100,000th unit of its iconic sports car, the 911. The current generation, the Type 997, has reached the milestone faster than any of its predecessors. Since the 997's first date of production in April of 2004, it has reached the milestone in a staggering short amount of time. The car in the spotlight, a red 911 Carrera S with a manual stick, is destined to a customer in the Frankfurt/Main area customer in Germany.

History is in the making as another record is patiently waiting to occur for Porsche. On July 31st, the end of the 2006/2007 year, Porsche will have sold 36,000 units of the renowned sports car through the year, creating a new chapter in Porsche's books.
