Words are emerging that the Audi RS4 production has already stopped to make way for the RS6, which will debut at Frankfurt this September. The RS4 has been regarded one of the finest sports cars by both Audi enthusiasts and the media. The deletion of the RS4 couldn't come at a worse time for Audi as BMW is in their final stages of developing their M3 Sedan and Mercedes-Benz is preparing to unveil the C63 AMG at Frankfurt.
Autocar reports that the Avant and Cabrio models will continue on, but we are unsure whether they will be canned anytime soon. According to the report, the decision has been made because the RS4 would cannibalise the sales of the RS6. We'd have to question that as the RS4 and RS6 would have a massive price gap and they would not cannibalise each other's sales if Audi markets them right. There is a market for the RS4 which consists of the BMW M3 Sedan and the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. The RS6 will have its share of competitors like the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.
