OFFICIAL: USDM 2011 KIA Sorento Information Released

2011 KIA Sorento
Kia Motors continues its full-fledged design and vehicle lineup transformation with the all-new 2011 Sorento CUV. The first vehicle to roll off the line at Kia Motors’ new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in West Point, Georgia, the new Sorento adopts Kia signature design cues and offers the U.S. market a well-equipped, well-appointed and versatile offering for the looming CUV market. The redesigned Sorento is set to hit showrooms in January 2010.

The completely redesigned Sorento is a landmark departure in design compared to its predecessor. Gone is the body-on-frame of the old (which off-roaders will certainly miss) and in is a new unibody platform that offers more car-like dynamics. The new Sorento is larger in every dimension including increased head and legroom and nearly five cubic feet more in cargo capacity. For the first time on any Kia vehicle, a panoramic sunroof is in the options list of the new Sorento.

In addition to added comfort, a host of technological features also come standard, including an AM/FM/CD/MP3/Sat audio system with SIRIUS Satellite Radio capabilities, USB/AUX input jacks, and Bluetooth connectivity with steering wheel-mounted voice activation controls. Available options include push button-start ignition, voice-activated navigation, rear sonar back-up camera, and air ionization purification technology.

The 2011 Sorento offers two engine options: a 2.4-liter Theta II four-cylinder engine outputting 172 horsepower or a larger 3.5-liter Lambda II V6 producing an impressive 273 horsepower. Both engines are coupled to a new six-speed automatic transmission. Both engines can be mated to either front or all wheel drive configurations.

“With a spacious, comfortable interior and multiple convenience features, the 2011 Sorento is the perfect, versatile choice for couples or young families taking a weekend getaway or merely handling everyday responsibilities,” said Tom Loveless, vice president of sales for KMA. “Consumers are sure to take notice of Sorento’s sharp styling, exceptional value and standard safety features, making it a standout in the competitive CUV segment.”
