Dealers fall short of Mitsubishi Lancer GTS with exceeding demands

Who would have thought Mitsubishi would face stock shortages five years ago? Dealers are short in stock of Mitsubishi's new Lancer, specifically the range-topping GTS trim. Mitsubishi speculated the mid-range trim, ES, would be the majority of the compact car's sales. The Lancer is off to a fantastic start, but at a level where it's a bit too much?

The GTS trim accounted for 60% of the Lancer's sales in North America. Demand was so high that about 1700 orders of the GTS model were canned. The Lancer's first half sales are up 68% from the first seven months of last year, at a staggering 20,816. With the Outlander and the Lancer sharing the taste of success, Mitsubishi is definitely the one to watch in the coming years.
